I have been very blessed lately by blogging support! Wonderful people have been taking the time to read my work and commenting. Without their feedback, love and support of my writing, and overall positive attitudes I don’t think I would be as inspired to write during the busy months of the school year. It can be hard to find a blogging balance.
I was recently surprised during my bout of eye troubles to receive a Blogging Recognition Award from the wonderful Hanna. I am humbled to be nominated and thankful she came by to check me out. So thank you so much for this honor Hanna!
The rules she has laid out seem simple enough, and are as follows:
1. The nominee writes a post, thanking the nominator. Common courtesy.
2. Nominee shares a brief story about how the blog started.
3. Nominee shares 2 pieces of advice to new bloggers
4. Nominate 15 bloggers
Once again thank you to the brilliant Hanna for nominating me!
As many of you know, my blog was born in a bathtub when I was around 8 months along with CDubs. I secured afternoonofsundries.wordpress.com and ignored it until 6 weeks after he was born. Suddenly, it wasn’t all about keeping the tiny human alive. Did you know you can actually put babies down? I sure didn’t!
I posted about cloth diapering at first (still my number one searched topic thanks to google, I’m usually 4th down when it comes to searching about stripping diapers and my posts about bottle mold are still pretty popular, which is cool). After the fog lifted I started to talk less about babies, more about teaching and having a baby. Then about teaching. Then about being a depressed teacher. Then… I went outside my comfort zone and started worrying short stories based on fables, tall tales, personal experiences, and situations I had encountered in my life. I’m not sure what you would call my blog now. It was a mommy blog. Then it was a teacher blog and now…. I don’t really know. I just love telling you all stories!
New bloggers. Love what you do. Do what you love. What ever makes you tick, gives you a reason to wake up, makes you do the happy dance; this is what you write about. Whatever enthralls your mind and ensnares your senses. I mean that’s what life is. We want to experience your world. Give it to us and while you shouldn’t lose who you are in doing so, become comfortable in it and the people will come. Perhaps not in droves but people who think as you do and will share that space with you. It’s the connection, the effect your words have that matter. Words have power, the influence. They can topple empires. Look at the Art of War, he’ll look at Twitter. So craft carefully friends. Breathe in life, but craft carefully.
Lastly, I nominate the following blogs/ bloggers to participate in this award:
Khae Always Evolving
Josy A A Walk and A Lark
I have been very blessed to receive a couple of awards this past month! I am trying to get these done quickly but Christmas time can be hard on us. Between our own concerts and playing in other concerts, we’ve had parades and our own family traditions and needs to take care of (and Christmas plays and events to see our other musician friends play in and…). Thank you so much for your patience as I try to get to every award!
