Soft Paws

Soft paws whisper across the bed spread,

A gentle meow is heard

Followed by a delicate purr.

Pawing, patting lightly, at my face,

Soft warm nose pushes hair away.

“It’s time to get up” she seems to say,

“It’s time to start a new day!” She purrs then makes her way,

Down my legs, across my knees, to edge of the bed.

There, peeping are my toes to which she takes a bite,

“What the heck!” I scream, jumping up,

as I see a tail whipping out of sight.
