I Couldn’t Love You More

I couldn’t love you more
Than the day I found out
That you were growing inside
And someday you’d crawling about.

I couldn’t love you more
Than the day I saw you on that screen
There were, your little arms and feet
And didn’t you know it you hid your face from me!

I couldn’t love you more
Than the day I felt you move
I didn’t know then
You had things to work on and improve.

I couldn’t love you more
The day before you came
I bounced on a giant ball
Practically the whole day.

I couldn’t love you more
Than the night I checked in
The hospital gave me so much help
So I could push, and push, and push and then

I couldn’t love you more
Than the afternoon you breathed air
You squalled as nurses fixed all of that hair
They took you down the hall to map your vitals out.

I couldn’t love you more
Than when you came back
8lbs 3.4 ounces and snuggled wrapped
So small and so ours (and you had the cutest hat!)

I couldn’t love you more
Than the evening you came home
The car seat was loaded and safely daddy drove.
I held your hand and happily wept.

I couldn’t love you more
Than I do every day
The joy of being your mom
Is a feeling that will always stay.
