It’s Not All Rainbows and Unicorns

Julie: How’s it feel to be married a year?

Me: Let’s see….I will endeavor to give you an honest answer, because this is serious for a soon to be married lady.

Julie: Ok?

Me:It feels like time has stretched for years, that we have always been married. Like all the hours couldn’t have possibly filled those days. It’s very comfortable like reading a book while wrapped in a warm blanket, you expect the blanket shall be warm because you’ve used it many times. You also know the story is good because, you’ve read the dog eared pages and it’s very much your favorite book.

At the same time, I see the birth of my son within that same year, and it’s been so quick, as if time has barely stopped for us, and we are dangling off into the unknown. The magnitude of this year, which truly should mean nothing compared to the years of your parents or mine, means nothing but for me, it’s been just so…

Exciting, and if I think of the marriage, not the crap we deal with daily, it’s filled with contentment.

So that’s what it feels like to me.

So that’s what, as I said, being married a year feels like.
